Vilniaus žydų bendruomenės solidarumo pareiškimas„Šviesa neužges: solidarumas su mūsų broliais ir seserimis Sidnėjuje“
Vilniaus žydų bendruomenė, šią šventą Chanukos progą, yra giliai sukrėsta ir pasipiktinusi barbarišku teroristiniu išpuoliu, nukreiptu prieš žydų šventę Bondi paplūdimyje, Sidnėjuje, Australijoje.
Šviesos šventė, skirta žydų tautos atsparumui ir šviesos triumfui prieš tamsą švęsti, buvo tragiškai sugadinta grynos neapykantos ir antisemitinio smurto aktu. Nukreipti ataką prieš bendruomenę bendro džiaugsmo ir religinės apeigos akimirką yra blogio veiksmas, kurį mes griežčiausiai smerkiame.
Nuoširdžiai užjaučiame nekaltų vyrų, moterų ir vaikų, kurie buvo žiauriai nužudyti, šeimas ir meldžiamės už greitą bei visišką visų sužeistųjų pasveikimą. Gedime dėl gyvybės netekties, įskaitant atsidavusį bendruomenės lyderį, rabiną Eli Schlangerį, ir kiekvieną sielą, paimtą per šį baisų užpuolimą. Jų atminimas amžinai bus palaiminimas ir kaltinimas neapykantai.
Solidarumas ir pasiryžimas
Iš Vilniaus – miesto, kurio istorija yra neatsiejamai susijusi su žydų tautos atsparumu ir kančia, buvusios „Šiaurės Jeruzalės“ – siunčiame nepalaužiamo solidarumo žinią visai Australijos žydų bendruomenei. Žinome tokio tikslinio smurto skausmą ir žinome, kad antisemitizmo augimas visame pasaulyje kelia grėsmę ne tik žydams, bet ir visų laisvų bei demokratinių visuomenių pagrindams.
Mūsų menorų šviesa, kurią uždegame tamsiausiu metų laiku, liudija, kad neapykantos, ekstremizmo ir teroro tamsa niekada neužgesins mūsų dvasios. Kaip mūsų protėviai ištvėrė šimtmečius, mes ir toliau stovėsime stiprūs, vieningi ir budrūs.
Raginame vyriausybes ir pilietinę visuomenę visame pasaulyje vertinti šį antisemitizmo atgimimą kaip mirtiną pavojų ir imtis ryžtingų veiksmų visoms religinėms bendruomenėms apsaugoti.
Tegul aukų šeimos randa paguodą savo bendruomenėje, ir tegul Chanukos dvasia – liepsna, kurios negalima užgesinti – sustiprina mūsų pasiryžimą siekti teisingumo ir taikos.

Statement of Solidarity from the Vilnius Jewish Community“The Light Will Not Be Extinguished: Solidarity with Our Brothers and Sisters in Sydney”
The Vilnius Jewish Community, on this holy occasion of Hanukkah, is profoundly heartbroken and outraged by the barbaric terrorist attack targeting a Jewish celebration at Bondi Beach in Sydney, Australia.
The Festival of Lights, a time dedicated to celebrating the resilience of the Jewish people and the triumph of light over darkness, has been tragically marred by an act of pure hatred and antisemitic violence. To target a community in a moment of communal joy and religious observance is an act of evil that we condemn in the strongest possible terms.
Our hearts and our deepest condolences go out to the families of the innocent men, women, and children who were brutally murdered, and we pray for the swift and complete recovery of all those injured. We mourn the loss of life, including the dedicated community leader, Rabbi Eli Schlanger, and every soul taken in this heinous assault. Their memory will forever be a blessing and an indictment against hate.
Solidarity and Resolve
From Vilnius, a city whose history is intrinsically linked to the resilience and suffering of the Jewish people—the former “Jerusalem of the North”—we send a message of unwavering solidarity to the entire Australian Jewish community. We know the pain of such targeted violence, and we know that the rise of antisemitism, globally, is a threat not just to Jews, but to the fabric of all free and democratic societies.
The light of our Menorahs, which we light in the darkest time of the year, serves as a testament that the darkness of hatred, extremism, and terror will never extinguish our spirit. Just as our ancestors persevered through the centuries, we will continue to stand strong, united, and vigilant.
We call upon governments and civil society worldwide to treat this resurgence of antisemitism as the mortal danger it is, and to take decisive action to protect all religious communities.
May the families of the victims find comfort in their community, and may the spirit of Hanukkah—a flame that cannot be extinguished—strengthen our resolve for justice and peace.
